Ravenna Merlot PGI - Franco
A truly unmistakable wine, Merlot Franco from Tenute Tozzi, thanks to an extraordinary morphological variety of the territory in which it is cultivated, characterized by sandstone and clay, allows the production of wines of excellent structure with particular floral accents. Each label is dedicated to a member of the family as per the tradition of the estate and this is dedicated to its founder Franco Tozzi for its persistent, durable and solid character like this wine. Its taste stands out for its minerality and lively hints of undergrowth.
Casola Valsenio, Vena del Gesso Romagnola Regional Park in the province of Ravenna. The vineyard is at a vineyard altitude of 480 meters above sea level facing North-East. The type of soil is sandy loam and the cultivation method is Guyotsimplice.
Merlot 100%
The harvest takes place manually, followed by spontaneous fermentation in steel at a controlled temperature and refinement on the fine lees for at least 12 months in French oak barriques before bottling, followed by a minimum of 2 months in the bottle.
Characteristics
Of a beautiful red color, it has notes of red fruit, berries and fragrant spices. In the mouth it is structured and has a good balance between freshness and tannicity. Thanks to the refinement in small French oak barriques, in which it rests for 12 months, it does not overpower but helps the sip, helping it to persist. It is certainly a wine that acquires greater depth and complexity as it evolves over time in the bottle.
Pairings
Excellent with full-bodied and complex dishes, such as braised meats, roasts, duck breast, game and local cured meats and mature cheeses. To be enjoyed at 14-16° in a large tulip glass.
