"Clandestine" Artisan Gin
Our Clandestine Gin is meant to be a tribute to the gins produced during the prohibition era, the so-called 'Bathtub gins', when gin was produced in secret bars called 'Speakeasy', which served as a cover for clandestine distilleries where makeshift vessels were used to mix alcohol and spices. This production method, called 'cold compounding', combined with the use of fine ingredients: a soft grain alcohol, spring water and fine botanicals, gives rise to a superlative product, very aromatic, fragrant, with an intense and complex taste, also excellent to be tasted on its own. The colour is amber, due to the fact that the product is not filtered to maintain a more intense aroma. The perfume and taste are also given by the infusion of botanicals, juniper in primis, with its typical resinous aroma, but dry and decisive, followed by the pungency of coriander, all balanced by angelica that binds and enhances the balsamic, citric and floral notes of cardamom and aromatic calamus. Its aromatic complexity is enhanced by fresh, pungent hints of citrus, making it even more unique and unmistakable.
This product can be enjoyed either on its own, for true gin lovers, or in combination with tonic water to create fantastic gin and tonics. We recommend a dry tonic, so that the aromas and flavours of this particular gin are not covered by the hints of tonic, but are enhanced even more, thus reducing the alcohol content.
