Mirtillino - Blueberry Liqueur

The wild blueberry is a completely spontaneous fruit, which is neither sown nor cultivated by man. It is found in areas of both Northern Europe and in the high range of the Modena Apennines above 1500 meters above sea level. In Italy it is recognized as "Organic Modenese Apennines Blueberry". The fruits are harvested strictly by hand, with special artisan tools (see photo). To grow adequately it needs climatic conditions characterized by an alternation between cold and snowy days in winter and long and sunny days in summer. The berries are intense blue on the outside with purple and red colors in the internal pulp. Wild blueberries ensure a very high content of anthocyanins (almost 8 times more than cultivated blueberries) and polyphenols, which carry out important antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activities. This is a truly natural product and obviously 100% BIO, given that the production process is still the same as always.

For products based on wild blueberries typical of the Modena Apennines and other wild berries, we have selected a symbol of our territory, namely the Azienda Agricola i Rodi. A family-run business located in Fanano sull'Appennino in the province of Modena. Everything happens in this place: the cultivation, harvesting and processing of local fruits, among green meadows and woods of chestnuts. As is obvious for a company of this type, all fruit cultivation is organic and the production cycle has almost zero impact on the environment. The blueberry is wild , therefore it is collected only in the woods and is not cultivated, while blackberries, redcurrants, blackcurrants, strawberries and raspberries are both collected and cultivated. Everything is worked in a small artisan workshop on site which gives rise to a small production of the highest excellence. Which assures us of certified origin,  its unparalleled characteristics and peculiarities.

To be consumed after a meal as a digestive,   we recommend serving it cold or with an ice cube. Also excellent as an enrichment of cakes, ice cream or ricotta. Inside there are blueberries used in infusion, to eat while tasting the liqueur.
