Artisan Hazelnut Crunch

I Sapori del Borgo Antico is an exceptional production company in our area, specialized in the production of sweets, biscuits and chocolate. The small, artisanal business is located in Montebonello (Pavullo nel Frignao) in the Modena Apennines. The processing of the products is carried out strictly by hand, one by one, in the wake of family tradition, without the use of mass-produced machinery, thanks to master chocolatiers who are well known in the area, thus giving shape to works of confectionery art. The raw materials are predominantly 0 km, such as the hazelnuts used, which come directly from a hazelnut grove they own, a short distance from the production laboratory. The finished product is carefully checked to obtain some of the finest products in all of Emilia-Romagna.

This sweet  the specialty was prepared as far back as 1700, in private homes, convents and rectories, especially in Pavullo nel Frignano (MO). Only local fruits such as almonds, hazelnuts and walnuts were used. Traces of its production remained in the archives of parishes and abbeys as mention was made of the use of Artistic Crunch in ceremonies and weddings. From then on, the brittle has always been at the center of parties and celebrations, such as in weddings, a must alongside the wedding cake.
