Artisan Almond Crunch

A classic sweet of the Emilian tradition, always produced in the heart of the Modenese Apennines, in Frignano. Obviously it is made in an artisanal manner, using a centuries-old family recipe, by the master confectioners of this small gourmet workshop. The raw materials are of the highest quality: almonds, a little sugar and mountain acacia honey. This special Croccante boasts the Chamber of Commerce's 'Tradizioni e Sapori di Modena' award, the highest recognition for traditional Emilian recipes.

I Sapori del Borgo Antico is an exceptional production company in our area, specialising in the production of cakes, biscuits and chocolate. The small, artisan business is located in Montebonello (Pavullo nel Frignao) in the Modena Apennines. The products are made strictly by hand, one by one, in the family tradition, without the use of mass-produced machinery, thanks to master chocolatiers well known in the area, thus giving shape to works of confectionery art. The raw materials are mainly 0 km, like the hazelnuts used, which come directly from their own hazelnut grove, a short distance from the production workshop. The finished product is carefully controlled, to obtain some of the finest products in the entire Emilia-Romagna region.

This sweet speciality was prepared as far back as the 1700s, in private homes, convents and parsonages, especially in Pavullo nel Frignano (MO). Only local fruits such as almonds, hazelnuts and walnuts were used. Traces of its production have remained in the archives of parishes and abbeys, since mention was made of its use in ceremonies and weddings. From then on, the croccante has always been at the centre of feasts and celebrations, such as weddings, indispensable alongside the wedding cake.
